FAQ

Short answers to common questions. For step-by-step guides see Help, the trading guides and the glossary.

Where is my data? Do you see it?

Everything (journal, paper accounts, chart layouts, portfolio) is stored in your browser's local storage on this device. There's no account and no server of ours involved, so we never see it. Clearing your browser data erases it, so keep backups. We do count anonymous page views; see "Do you use analytics or tracking?".

Do you use analytics or tracking?

Only anonymous, cookie-less counts via GoatCounter: which page was viewed, the referring site, screen width, how far pages are scrolled, time on page and clicks on main links. If you arrive through one of our tagged links, we also record that link's tag (only the utm_source, utm_campaign and utm_content values, e.g. "nostr" and "dca") to see which post brought visitors; nothing else from the address is sent. No cookies, no IDs stored in your browser, no ad trackers, and never anything you type: journal, trades, addresses and portfolio stay on your device. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are respected.

How do I back up or move my data?

Free: Journal → Settings → Move my data exports everything in this browser (journal, paper, charts, portfolio, alerts, Pro license and pending checkout) to a file you can import on getdailyedge.com or another device. Browsers keep each website address separate, so that is how you move from the old nsite address. Pro Backup (JSON) still saves just the journal, rules and settings. Portfolio holdings can also be exported to CSV (Pro). The move file stays on your device.

What does Pro cost and what do I get?

$9 once, by card or bitcoin. No subscription. It unlocks everything marked PRO: unlimited rules and history, discipline/setup/mood stats, CSV export and backups, themes, all chart indicators and drawings, multi-chart layouts and alerts, 20x paper leverage, multiple paper accounts and challenges, unlimited portfolio holdings and addresses with full history, and extra share-card styles.

How do Free, Pro and the other products compare?

See the Plans page (getdailyedge.com/plans/): Free, each paid product and the Everything bundle side by side, with the limits the app actually uses. Every purchase is a one-time payment (card or bitcoin), never a subscription. Daily Edge Pro is $9. The Everything bundle is $22 for the Pro key plus Crypto Backtest Toolkit Pro and the latest Agent-Economy Weekly full edition, $4 less than buying them separately.

How does Pro unlock?

Pay on the shop page by card or bitcoin. Your license key appears on screen (right after a card payment, or after 1 confirmation for bitcoin), with a button that unlocks the app. The key is checked offline with a signature, with no account and no server.

How do I restore Pro on a new device or browser?

Open Daily Edge there, go to Journal → Settings, paste the same license key and tap Unlock. It works on all your own devices. Save the key somewhere safe, like a password manager.

Lost my key?

Use 'Recover my order' on the shop page with your order ID and claim key, and the key appears again. Then save it somewhere safe, like a password manager. It works on all your devices.

How can I pay? Is it safe?

By card or bitcoin, with no account. Card payments run on Stripe's secure checkout, so we never see your card number. Your key appears right after a card payment. With bitcoin you pay an exact amount on-chain to the address shown, and the shop's checkout watches the blockchain for it. Always pay the exact amount shown, because the extra sats identify your order. Quotes expire, so pay within the time window.

Refunds?

The core app is free, so try before you buy. Pro sales are final.

Is paper trading real?

No. It's a simulator with virtual money. Prices are live public data, but fills, fees, funding and liquidations are simplified models, and real exchanges behave differently. It's for practice only, not financial advice.

Do paper trades affect my real stats?

No. Closed paper trades are logged in your journal tagged PAPER, in a separate list. They never count toward your real stats, streaks or check-ins.

Can I see my portfolio in bitcoin instead of dollars?

Yes. On the Portfolio page, tap BTC next to "Show in". Total value, holdings values and the allocation chart switch to bitcoin (amounts under 0.01 BTC show as sats), using the live BTC price from Coinbase. The 24h change is then measured against bitcoin: a coin that only moved with bitcoin shows about zero, and a gain means you beat holding BTC today. Unrealized P&L is your dollar P&L converted at today's BTC price. It's free, and the choice is remembered in this browser.

Do you need my seed phrase or keys?

Never. Nobody legitimate ever does. The portfolio only takes public addresses, which can't move funds, and it refuses seed phrases and private keys. Balances are fetched straight from your browser to public APIs (mempool.space, blockstream.info, publicnode.com).

Where does market and balance data come from?

Your browser fetches market and balance data directly, with no key and nothing passing through us. Candles and prices come from Coinbase Exchange (Kraken as fallback). The coin ticker on the getdailyedge.com home page also asks Coinbase Exchange for prices, straight from your browser, with no key and no tracking. BTC balances come from mempool.space (blockstream.info as fallback), and ETH and SOL from publicnode.com. News headlines are a separate static feed.json built from free public RSS (title/link/time/source only); see "Where do the News headlines come from?".

What are the limits?

Public APIs can rate-limit heavy use. Alerts, paper orders and portfolio snapshots only run while the tab is open. ETH tokens are limited to 10 major ERC-20s, Solana tokens and xpub aren't supported (add them by hand), and coins without a Coinbase USD price count as $0.

Does it work offline?

Yes, after the first visit: the journal works fully offline, and you can install it with your browser's Install / Add to Home Screen. Charts, paper trading, portfolio balances and the News feed need internet for live data.

How do I know the address is real?

Our only bitcoin payment address is 1MVAKAcfvPNSyxW9Pa7zdn7SQn5xTqhCKu. You can check it three ways: it is in this FAQ; it is in our Nostr profile (npub16lgpp5erwwfrwdur0sjashuessfg28mlf8c0uruq06ah2ag26x5sm7vd7g), which you can look up in any Nostr app or on any relay, independent of this website; and the checkout itself refuses any quote that isn't signed by that shop key or that names a different address. If a page ever shows you another address, don't pay it. Our official web address is getdailyedge.com, which serves the app directly from our nsite. The address npub16lgpp5…7vd7g.nsite.lol is a backup that serves the same site. Saved data stays in the browser at the address where you created it.

Why can delivery take a while?

With a card, your key appears right after the payment goes through. With bitcoin it takes longer: quotes (the exact bitcoin amount and address) come from an always-on server, so they appear within seconds. Matching your payment and sending your license key run on a small machine of ours that is sometimes offline. Your key appears on the same page after 1 network confirmation (about 10 minutes on average, sometimes longer). If that machine was offline, it arrives once it is back, which can take a few hours. Never send bitcoin before you see a quote. Your order is saved in your browser, so you can close the page and come back.

Can I support the project without buying?

Yes, if you'd like to: use the 'Tip with bitcoin (optional)' link in the shop footer, which shows a bitcoin address and QR code (on-chain only). Tips are completely optional and unlock nothing; everything free stays free.

What are MFE and MAE, and how does the excursion review work?

MFE (maximum favourable excursion) is the furthest price moved in your favour while a trade was open; MAE (maximum adverse excursion) is the furthest it moved against you. Enter market, side, entry, exit and when the trade opened and closed (or load a closed Paper trade), and your browser pulls the high and low for that window from public Coinbase candles. Add a stop to see R values and a size to see dollars. 'Kept of best move' is your result divided by MFE. You can also type the high and low yourself. Free reviews one trade at a time plus your last 3 Paper trades in a batch; Pro batches the last 20. The After-exit check on the same page shows what price did 1 hour, 1 day and 1 week after you closed, labelled sold too early, got out in time or about flat (free: your last 3 closed Paper or imported trades, Pro: your full history). That part is hindsight, not a rule. Bar data can include a small wick at entry or exit, and it's a review tool, not advice.

How does the liquidation calculator work?

Enter side (long or short), entry price, leverage and the USD margin for the position. Liquidation ≈ entry × (1 ∓ 1/leverage ± MMR) with a default maintenance margin of 0.5%. It shows distance to liquidation, max loss (the margin, on isolated), what happens if price moves X% against you, and a table of cushions at common leverages. Same simplified model as Paper trading; real exchanges differ. Free, runs in your browser, saves last inputs on this device. Educational only, not advice.

How does the position size calculator work?

Enter your account size, how much of it you'll risk (for example 1%), your entry and your stop. Size = amount at risk ÷ (distance to stop + fees per unit). It also shows the margin at your leverage, risk:reward to an optional target and a rough liquidation price, and warns if your stop sits past liquidation. It's free, runs in your browser and saves your last inputs on this device only. It's a calculator, not advice.

How does the exit planner (take-profit ladder) work?

Enter your entry, position size in coins, an optional stop, and up to 3 take-profit levels (5 with Pro), each with a price and the % of your starting position to sell there. It shows the P&L and R at each level, the profit if every target hits, the blended exit price, any runner left open, and scenarios for price reaching some targets and then coming back to your stop, or to your entry if you move the stop to breakeven after target 1. Fees are taken off both sides. It runs entirely in your browser; your last plan is saved on this device. It's a planning aid, not advice.

What does the DCA simulator show?

It replays buying a fixed USD amount daily, weekly, every 2 weeks or monthly on real Coinbase daily closing prices, then shows total invested, current value, profit or loss, average cost and how one lump sum on day one would have compared. Free goes back 1 year; Pro goes back 5 years and exports the buys as CSV. Past prices don't predict future returns.

Where do the Fear & Greed and funding numbers come from?

Fear & Greed is the daily Crypto Fear & Greed index from alternative.me. Funding rates come from the public APIs of OKX (perpetual swaps, usually every 8 hours) and Hyperliquid (hourly). Your browser fetches them directly; nothing goes through us. Free shows 30 days of Fear & Greed history, Pro a full year. They describe market mood and positioning, not where prices will go.

Do price alerts work when the page is closed?

No. There's no server, so alerts run only while the Price alerts tab is open (in the background is fine). Prices are checked every 30 seconds from Coinbase. When one fires you get a sound, a message on the page, a log entry and, if you allowed it, a browser notification. Free: up to 3 active alerts. Pro: unlimited alerts and repeating alerts.

Can I export my P&L for taxes?

Pro can download a CSV of every closed trade (date, real or paper, symbol, side, setup, realized P&L, R, leverage, note) plus monthly and per-symbol totals from Tools → Review & P&L export. The numbers are exactly what you logged, so they're only as complete as your journal. It isn't tax advice and doesn't work out cost basis, lots or tax rules for your country. Paper trades are simulated and aren't real gains or losses. Give the file to your accountant or tax software.

How does the Bitcoin fee planner work?

Open Tools → BTC fee planner. It shows mempool.space's recommended fee rates (next block, about 30 minutes, about an hour, no rush) in sat/vB and in dollars for a typical 1-input, 2-output payment of about 141 vB, plus a calculator for your own transaction size. It compares today's rate with the median fee of every block mined in the past 7 days and says whether a time of day has been cheaper. Your browser fetches the data directly from mempool.space (Blockstream if it is down); no wallet, address or sign-in is involved. Fees can change within minutes, so treat the numbers as estimates and check your wallet before you send. It's free.

How does the trading fee calculator work?

Open Tools → Trading fees and enter your trade size, leverage, your exchange's maker and taker fees (per side, in %) and, optionally, the spread, your share of maker fills and your round trips a week. It shows the cost of one round trip in dollars and as a percent, the price move a long needs to break even, the yearly cost and what maker orders would save. It assumes maker fills don't pay the spread. It has no built-in exchange rates; the Load example rates are made up. Free, runs in your browser and saves your last inputs on this device only. Educational only, not advice.

How does the break-even price calculator work?

Open Tools → Break-even price. Pick long or short, then add each fill of the position: the price and the amount in coins (or the dollars spent). It shows your average entry price (weighted by size), the total cost after entry fees, and the break-even price: the exit price where you come out at exactly $0 after the exit fee too. For a long that is total cost ÷ (coins × (1 − exit fee)); for a short it is the net sale proceeds ÷ (coins × (1 + exit fee)). Optional: other costs such as funding, a target profit % (gives the exit price for that profit) and today's price (gives your P&L if you closed now). Fees are entered by you as a % per side; the page has no built-in prices or exchange fees, and nothing you type is sent anywhere. Educational only, not financial advice.

How does the crypto profit calculator work?

Open Tools → Profit / ROI. Enter what you invested in dollars (buy fee included) or the coins you bought, the buy price and the sell price (or today's price), and each side's fee in %. It shows your profit or loss and ROI after fees, the total cost, what the sale returns, the multiple (what you get back per $1), the break-even sell price and a table of sell prices for +10%, +25%, +50%, 2x and 3x. Optional: pick the date you bought and press "Use close that day" to fill in Coinbase's daily closing price for that UTC day, which also works as a "what if I had bought on…" check, and "Sell at today's price" fills in the live price. Only those two buttons fetch anything, straight from Coinbase's public API; nothing you type is sent anywhere. It covers one buy and one sell: for several buys use the break-even price calculator, and for regular buys the DCA simulator. Educational only, not financial or tax advice.

How does the risk of ruin and expectancy calculator work?

Open Tools → Expectancy / ruin. Enter your win rate, your average win and average loss in R (R is the amount you planned to risk on a trade, so a 2R win made twice that) and the percent of your account you risk per trade. It shows your expectancy (the average result per trade: win rate × average win − loss rate × average loss), the win rate you need to break even, profit factor and the smallest average win that breaks even. It then plays your numbers forward 5,000 times, each trade risking your percent of the current balance, and shows the middle and bad-luck (5th and 95th percentile) ending balance, typical and bad-luck max drawdown and losing streak, the chance of ending down and the chance of ever falling to your ruin level (50% of the starting account unless you change it). The random numbers are seeded, so the same numbers always give the same result. "Use my journal numbers" fills in your win rate and average win and loss from the trades in your Trade Journal on this device (free: last 30 days, Pro: all history), and "Copy link to these numbers" makes a link that holds only those numbers. Nothing is fetched or sent anywhere. Real trades vary more than averages, so treat the results as a rough guide. Educational only, not financial advice.

How do mistake tags work?

When you log a trade in the Journal, open "Mistakes on this trade" and tick anything you control that went wrong: FOMO entry, no stop or moved stop, oversized, revenge trade, exited too early or off plan. You can also tap Tags on a logged trade to change them later, and edit the tag list in Settings → Mistake tags. Stats → Cost of mistakes then shows how many trades carry a tag, the most frequent one and the average clean trade next to the average trade with a mistake (free). Pro adds a table with each tag's trades, win rate, average and total P&L. Only real journal trades count, never paper. Tags are included in the Pro CSV export. Everything stays in this browser.

Can I import trades from Coinbase, Kraken or Binance?

Yes, from a CSV file, with no API keys or logins. Export your trade history as CSV (Coinbase transaction history or Advanced fills, Kraken trades.csv, Binance spot Trade History), open Tools → CSV import and choose the file. It's read in your browser and never uploaded. Buys and sells are matched first-in, first-out into closed long trades with fees and P&L, and you see a preview before anything is added. Imported trades land on the day they closed with your setup tag and a note; re-importing the same file adds nothing twice. Spot only (no futures or margin). Free imports the newest 25 trades per file, Pro all of them. It's a journal record, not tax software or advice.

How do the daily limits (max loss and max trades) work?

On the Journal's Today tab you can set a max loss per day and a max number of trades per day. Both are optional. As you log real trades, the Trades card shows where you stand (for example 2 of 3 trades, -$30 with a -$50 max loss), warns you when you're close and turns red with a stop message once a limit is reached. If you log another trade after that, the day counts as a broken limit. Stats → Daily limits kept shows on how many trading days you stayed inside your limits; Pro also compares your average P&L on those days with the days you broke one. Paper trades never count. Each day remembers the limits you had set that day. It's a discipline tool, not advice, and nothing leaves your browser.

What does the trade-review heatmap show?

A calendar of your daily net P&L (green gains, red losses, darker for bigger days), plus results by weekday and by symbol, for real trades, paper trades or both. Free shows the last 12 weeks, Pro a full year. It all runs on this device from your journal.

Can I try Pro before paying?

Yes. Tap 'Try Pro free for 7 days' (in Journal → Settings or on any Pro note). It unlocks every Pro feature on this device for 7 days with no payment and no sign-up; a small badge shows the days left. When the trial ends nothing is deleted, Pro-only features simply go back to the free limits, and you can keep Pro for $9 once, by card or bitcoin.

Where do the News headlines come from?

A static feed file (feed.json) is built from free public RSS sources such as CoinDesk, Cointelegraph, Decrypt, Bitcoin.com News, The Block and Crypto.News. We store only title, link, time, source and coin tags — not full articles. Your browser loads that file from our site and filters it to your Charts watchlist. Tap a headline to open the publisher. There is no X/Twitter feed. Headlines are third-party text, not ours, and not financial advice.

Is this advice?

No. It's a journal and a practice tool. It only shows statistics of what you logged or simulated.
