How far price can move against you before liquidation at this entry and MMR. Higher leverage = less room.
Isolated margin means only this position's margin is at risk. Liquidation is estimated as entry × (1 ∓ 1/leverage ± MMR) — minus for a long, plus for a short — with a default maintenance margin rate (MMR) of 0.5%. At liquidation you lose the position margin. Exchanges use their own mark price, fees and MMR, so real numbers differ. See the leverage guide and practise risk-free in Paper. Size the trade first with the position size calculator. Every term is defined in the glossary.
Long at $50,000 with 10x leverage and the default 0.5% MMR: 50,000 × (1 − 0.10 + 0.005) = $45,250, a 9.5% drop. The same short: 50,000 × (1 + 0.10 − 0.005) = $54,750, a 9.5% rise.
Exchanges use tiered maintenance margin, their own mark price, fees, funding and sometimes a liquidation fee. Use this as an estimate and check the exchange's figure. More in crypto liquidation price explained.
It moves liquidation further away. Your loss at the stop depends on position size, so size from risk first.
