Free crypto trading journal: private, in your browser
By Daily Edge · Updated · Educational only, not financial advice.
About this page. Written by Overfit Labs, the makers of Daily Edge, so it describes our own app and is not a neutral review. There are no ratings, user reviews or testimonials here. The free and Pro limits below are the ones the app enforces, checked on . For other journals side by side, see our editorial comparison of crypto trading journals.
Daily Edge is a crypto trading journal that runs entirely in your web browser. You don't create an account, and the trades, notes and rules you enter are saved in your browser's storage on your device, not on a server of ours. The core journal is free with no time limit. This page explains what that means in practice, what the free version covers, what the one-time Pro upgrade adds and where the limits are, so you can decide whether it fits before you log a single trade. If you want the how-to rather than the tool, read how to keep a crypto trading journal.
What "private, in your browser" means here
- No account. There is no sign-up, email or password. You open the journal and start.
- Your entries stay on your device. Journal days, trades, notes, paper accounts and portfolio holdings are kept in your browser's local storage. We never receive them.
- Price data comes straight from public sources. Charts, paper trading and the trade review tools ask Coinbase's public market data (Kraken as a fallback for charts) for prices directly from your browser, with no key. Nothing you type is attached to those requests.
- Anonymous page counts only. We count page views with GoatCounter, without cookies, and never record anything you type. The FAQ lists exactly what is counted.
- No exchange keys. Trades come in by hand or from a CSV file you export yourself. Daily Edge never asks for an API key, a wallet connection or a seed phrase.

The trade-offs of a browser-only journal
Keeping everything on your device is the point, and it has costs you should know about:
- Clearing browser data erases the journal. Use Journal → Settings → Move my data to save a file now and then. Nobody can restore it for you, because we never had a copy.
- No automatic sync. Your phone and your laptop each keep their own journal. To switch devices, export the move file on one and import it on the other.
- No broker or exchange sync. You log trades by hand or import a CSV. The importer handles spot trade history and matches buys and sells first-in, first-out into long trades; futures and margin history aren't supported.
- Crypto only. If you also trade stocks, options or futures, a multi-asset journal will fit better.
- Fewer reports than paid desktop journals. Daily Edge focuses on the daily routine (plan, rules, limits) and a handful of reviews. Our comparison lists what the subscription tools offer.
Getting started in about three minutes
- Open Daily Edge. On a phone, you can add it to your home screen; after the first visit the journal works offline.
- Write up to three rules you want to keep every day, for example "Used a stop on every trade".
- Log today's trades by hand, or import your exchange's CSV.
- Check in at the end of the day: tick the rules you kept and add one line on what you learned.
- Once a week, run through the weekly review checklist.
Frequently asked questions
Is Daily Edge really a free crypto trading journal?
Yes. The journal, daily check-in, trade log, paper trading and calculators are free with no time limit and no account. Pro is an optional one-time $9 upgrade that raises the limits and adds extra stats.
Can you see my trades?
No. Trades and notes are stored in your browser on your device and are never sent to us. We only count anonymous page views, without cookies.
Does it work on my phone and offline?
Yes. It works in mobile and desktop browsers, and you can install it from your browser menu. After the first visit the journal works offline; charts, paper trading and price lookups need a connection.
Can I import trades from Coinbase, Kraken or Binance?
Yes, from a CSV file you export from the exchange, with no API keys. The file is read in your browser and never uploaded. The free version imports the newest 25 trades per file; Pro imports all of them.
What happens if I clear my browser data?
The journal is erased from that browser, because it only exists on your device. Save a move file from Journal → Settings regularly so you can restore it.
Is there a subscription?
No. Pro is paid once, by card or bitcoin. There is also a 7-day free trial on your device with no payment needed.
